Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, overlaid by a U Boat set against a hollow background, the reverse with a crimped hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 48. 70 mm (w) x 39. 65 mm (h), weighing 18.
