A circular bronze medal, the obverse depicting a triumphant soldier being crowned by a Goddess, the reverse depicting a1914 Iron Cross, circumscribed by Frs Vaterland (For the Fatherland), measuring 32. 54 mm in diameter, weighing 13. 9 grams, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, mounted to a horizontal pinback with blue wool backing maker marked GRABOW & MATTHES
