Elio Grasso, Barolo Ginestra Casa Mate, 2008 TEST making it one of theGinestra Casa Mat is the flagship single vineyard at Elio Grassoperhaps the oldest cru expression and the one that best represents the house style. South facing at 300 350m on limestone based soils with clay, the vineyard yields 40 year old vines trained at low density (4,500 per hectare). The 2008 cool vintage captures the savory, mineral driven side of the site, with the structure and acidity to age gracefully for two decades. This is serious Barolo.
