Description

which is rarely seen in my experience with this material

soft blue color cuboctahedral crystal of this hard-to-find species on matrix

1 cm across sitting beautifully on the underlying Quartz matrix

the piece was a gift from Erberto Tealdi (former editor of Rivista Mineralogica Italiana)

the term copal comes from the Nahuatl / Aztec word "copalli" which translates into "incense"

Ametrine (natural bi-color Quartz) antimony which is rarely seen inAmetrine is the naturally occurring bi colored variety of Quartz that is only found at the Anahi Mine in Bolivia. Some material is marked as coming from Brazil, but in reality, the rough is sometimes shipped from Bolivia across the border (which is only about 40 km away) to be processed in Brazil. There is no reported discovery of Ametrine anywhere in Brazil, and the Bolivian Ametrine remains the best and frankly ONLY commercially available material
