Old Chinese Elm Farmhouse Console Table Origin - Japan Features: Hand-turned takhat leg convertedAltar tables were used for ancestor worship in China. Usually a family ancestor portrait would be hung above the table & joss sticks lit & placed on the table for the well being of the household. This particular piece has a lovely bleached rustic look. It is a fairly modern construction made using old wood and traditional carpentry techniques. The long and narrow construction of altar tables makes them perfect for a corridor.
