They were used by the desert dwelling tribes of Western Rajasthan near the city of Jaisalmer in their buildings which were made of mud and clay. See the final photograph for how these doors were used. Wood is very scarce in the Thar desert & doors, windows and furniture were made of sticks harvested from the Kair tree (Capparis decidua).
