A small grower averaging 10 inches across x 8 inches tall in an upright funnel form rosette. The leaves are an inch to inch and a half wide, fairly stiff with large dark spines, reddish bronzy green on the undersides, heavily banded with dark chestnut brown. The upper surface is bronzy green with dark banding and a light powdery coating. Does not blush at anthesis.
